Discover Risk and Discover Fortunes are interactive board games designed to raise awareness of the profession to students at school and college. Discover Risk relates to insurance whilst Discover Fortunes to financial planning. Each event involves 20-35 students, takes approximately 90 minutes to run and splits students into teams to work through a number of scenarios. Both games are designed to increase students' employability skills such as team working, communication and problem-solving. Equally, they create opportunities for local employers to build links with their future talent.

Promoting our profession within schools, colleges and universities locally has never been easier, thanks to the Discover Risk and Discover Fortunes interactive board games. Local institute council members can play an important part by helping to run these sessions and supplying practitioners for local events. The CII can also help supply a PowerPoint presentation, banner stand and supporting materials for those wishing to attend a career fair or present at a local school, college or university. In addition, local institutes could help engage with key organisations to provide work experience and/or taster opportunities for those students who are particularly interested in gaining experience. One of the easiest ways to identify the key organisations within your region is to analyse your monthly membership data which gives an overview of your member’s place of work. Your Membership Secretary will have access to this data.

Across the professional landscape, from accountants to civil engineers, and of course through to insurance brokers, insurers, insurance practitioners and financial planners, Chartered status stands proud as an indicator of the highest standards of learning and ethical behaviour. As a Chartered body of more than a century's standing the CII grants Chartered titles to individuals and organisations which meet strict qualifying criteria.

You can contact your PFS members via the e-flyer system. Simply use the data list titled 'pfs_DATEYEAR'. To establish who your PFS members are and who they work for contact your Membership Secretary who has access to your Membership Data. The PFS has local committees that work on a regional basis as opposed to the CII model of local institutes. Therefore, it is likely that several of your neighbouring CII local institutes are part of the same PFS region. Consider contacting the local PFS committee for advice and support.
