The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) 2024 New Generation Programme is now open for entries, offering 40 promising professionals an opportunity to join the flagship talent scheme.
The cohort is split in to four groups: Claims, Underwriting, Broking, and London Market. Each group is tasked with producing a project or initiative that has the potential to make a ‘significant difference’ to the insurance profession. The projects typically take around six months to complete and involve collaboration with group members, typically drawn from across the country. Once complete, they are presented to the CII Group Board. Previous projects included the Traumatic and Distressing Claims report, and the broadly covered, Insurance Influencer campaign.
The New Generation Programme includes:
- An interactive session with key personnel from the Financial Conduct Authority
- Talks from Members of Parliament and lobbying organisations in the insurance sector, as well as a tour of the Houses of Parliament
- Training on subjects such as leadership and handling the media
- Excellent learning, development, and networking opportunities
Ian Callaghan, President of the CII Group, said: “The CII’s New Generation Programme is an excellent opportunity for insurance professionals who have ideas, and wish to spread their wings and influence the sector. The Programme offers participants invaluable experience, exposure, and mentorship, as well as the chance to network and collaborate with their peers. We look forward keenly to welcoming this year’s cohort, and once again benefit from the perspectives of the rich and diverse talent within our profession.”
Matthew Hill, Chief Executive of the CII Group, said: “We are immensely proud of our New Generation Programme, which provides up-and-coming professionals with the opportunity to pursue their areas of interest and influence the wider insurance sector. Now in its thirteenth year, the programme is part of the CII’s broader effort to find and nurture new insurance and financial planning professionals, including through apprenticeships, T levels and our own world-class learning and qualifications. We warmly welcome applications from across the UK, and look forward to supporting those joining us to pursue their ideas and interests.”
Applicants must prove they have made significant strides in their professional development, demonstrating a strong contribution to the team or department in which they work. They are likely to hold a minimum qualification of Dip CII and five to ten years' experience within the general insurance profession. They must be CII members, working within either insurance claims, broking, underwriting, or the London Market. Applications from groups that are currently underrepresented in the profession are particularly encouraged, such as women, ethnic minorities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and those identifying with both seen and unseen disabilities.
The closing date for applications is Monday 19 August 2024.
