CII volunteers recognised for going the extra mile in annual awards

Next week, the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) will host its annual Volunteer Awards as part of its Network Conference 2024. The awards honour volunteers who have gone ‘the extra mile’ within their Local Insurance Institute or PFS Regional Committee, at national level across the wider CII Group, or within their own communities.

Local Institutes and Regional Committees are invited to nominate individuals, who are then assessed by the CII’s Awards Panel. This year, the following volunteers will be recognised:

  • Sally Blake FCII, Insurance Institute of London: Exceptional Service Award

Sally played a leading role in bringing together 28 co-authors to produce the InsurTech – Digital Disruption and Innovation in Insurance publication. She is also a mentor for CII students and member of the Insurance Institute of London’s Student Engagement Committee.

  • Julie Calvert FPFS, Insurance Institute of Liverpool: Distinguished Service Award

Julie has dedicated her efforts not only to the Institute’s Council over many years, and as local President, but she has also been a key figure in integrating multiple facets of the insurance and financial service sectors within the region.

  • Kimberley Hallam ACII, Insurance Institute of London: Distinguished Service Award

Kimberley is recognised for her work in leading the Institute Young Members’ Committee (YMC). As well as delivering 15 member events in 2023, she was directly involved in the YMC Winter Ball, which raised £28,000 for charity.

  • Lisa Winter Dip CII, Insurance Institute of Cardiff: Distinguished Service Award

Lisa has made significant achievements within the education space, not only with her own Local Institute where she has served as President, but also across the wider community.

Callum Beaton FCII, Chair of the Awards Panel said: “Volunteers are at the heart of the CII’s Local Institute and Personal Finance Society’s Regional Council offering around the UK, all playing a part in promoting and developing, learning and growing the professionalism of the insurance and financial services sectors. Our sector would be the poorer without the camaraderie and support of these volunteers in their communities.”

Each of the recipients will be recognised for their achievements and presented with their awards by the President and Chair of the CII Group at the Network Conference, which takes place on 12 June in Cheshire.
