Professional Pathways (Formally CII & PFS Futures project)

Since our last update, the CII & PFS Futures project has had a name change. We invited suggestions from internal colleagues for a name that captured the vision, and the project is now being renamed as “Professional Pathways” with the strapline “developing practitioners across the globe”.

Gill White and Nicola Mellor presented an overview of the insurance designs and proposals at the Network Conference and sought ideas on how best we work with local institute volunteers to launch and communicate qualification changes, with great suggestions made such as FAQs, transition plans, information packs and roadshows. We look forward to working with you to progress this, and any further suggestions on how we manage the changes are very welcome.

We have previously chartered our progress on the insurance designs (which following governance and stakeholder feedback and iteration) are being presented to the CII Board this month. Our next steps will be confirmed post CII Board approval. We anticipate final launch will not be until mid-2027/2028. This will allow us to develop the qualifications and produce a comprehensive transition plan to support learners at all stages.

On the personal finance qualifications, we have now developed draft designs and presented these to our personal finance learning advisory panel and SMP and employer representatives. We are using their feedback to refine the designs before gathering further views. We look forward to providing a further update on this in the Autumn.

In the meantime, we have arranged an engagement session for Wednesday 20 August 2025 10:00-11:00 for discussion of the personal finance qualifications with PFS and LI volunteers. If you would like to be included in this, please email linetwork@cii.co.uk or speak to your RMM.

If you have any thoughts, ideas and feedback on the project, let your RMM know and we’ll put you in contact with the Professional Pathways project team.
