CII CPD accreditation is an internationally recognised indication of excellence for learning activities that support our members working in the insurance and financial services sectors. For a learning activity to be CII Accredited it must show transparency of the learning to be gained, be of a high-quality and provide tangible benefits to our members.
Gaining CII Accreditation
Since CII Accreditation is a mark of quality, Local Institutes must have their learning content reviewed against the CII’s CPD accreditation standards, just like other providers. Gaining the mark gives assurance to those undertaking the learning activity that they are benefiting from a CPD opportunity of the highest calibre that will meet their professional development needs.
Annual review
Annual reviews are conducted to ensure CII CPD accreditation standards are being maintained. This review looks at the full cycle of a learning activity, from how it is advertised, to how it is delivered, and how the activity is evaluated to ensure the intended learning has been achieved. It also considers how the learning can be evidenced by the delegate when logging their CPD. To achieve this, Local Institutes will be required to submit samples of collateral from learning delivered for checking, to show that it continues to meet the CII’s CPD Accreditation standards. Those that fail to provide a submission for annual review or that do not meet the CII CPD Accreditation standards will no longer be permitted to display the CII Accredited mark on their website or use it in the collateral of learning activities they deliver.
What’s the annual review process?
Local Institutes will have an accreditation review conversation with their RMM each year at their annual development plan meeting. In preparation for this, they should collate and provide evidence that covers the learning cycle for two CPD events that have been delivered during the 12-months prior to the annual development plan meeting - please note these will already be submitted as part of your annual returns. The information required for submission for the annual review, alongside the learning activities toolkit to support delivering effective learning, can be found here.
